Wendy Kwakye Amoako, MA, PhD(c)

Associate Research Scholar

Wendy Kwakye Amoako is a PhD student in Rehabilitation Science at the University of Alberta. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Sociology from the University of Ghana and a Master of Arts in Linguistics from the University of British Columbia. Wendy’s area of research interests include Akan linguistics, child phonology, child language acquisition and speech disorders. She is currently working on developing a culturally appropriate tool for clinical assessment of child phonology in Akan.

Nutifafa Dey, MPhil, PhD(c)

Associate Research Scholar

Nutifafa holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, minoring Philosophy and Classics and a Master of Philosophy degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Ghana. He is a PhD student reading Psychology, with specialization in Developmental Psychology at Arizona State University. He uses longitudinal methods and lifespan theories to study development and understand the impact of psychosocial factors on resilience and wellbeing of adults in low-and middle-income countries. He previously managed research projects as a research manager at the Center for Learning and Childhood Development-Ghana (CLCD-GH).

Henry Ofori Duah, MPH, RN, PhD

Research Scholar

Henry Ofori Duah is currently a Senior Clinical Research Coordinator at the FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital-Ghana, where he is involved in patient outcomes research. He obtained his PhD at the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing in USA. He has also been engaged in a series of public health research involving secondary data analysis. He has worked on a variety of topics ranging from Child Health to Geriatric Health. Henry holds a BSc degree in Nursing (BSN) and a Master of Public Health (MPH-Epidemiology) degree, all from the University of Ghana. He is enthused about quantitative research. He looks forward to research collaboration with other Clinical, Nursing and Public Health Scientist, both local and international

Precious Adade Duodu MPH, DipEd, RN, PhD(c)

Associate Research Scholar

Precious is a Lecturer in the Department of Nursing and Midwifery, School of Human and Health Sciences, University of Huddersfield, UK. He pursued a Master of Public Health (Distinction) at the University of Aberdeen, UK on fully funded Commonwealth Scholarship. He holds Bachelor of Science in Nursing (First Class Honours) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana and a Diploma in Education from the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana. He’s a nurse and registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Councils of Ghana and the UK. His research interests include Non-communicable diseases, Maternal and Child Health, Public Health Nutrition.

Pascal Agbadi, MPhil, PhD

Research Scholar

Pascal Agbadi has an interdisciplinary education background in social sciences and public health. He obtained his PhD at the Lingnan University, Hong Kong. He is a highly analytical and process-oriented data analyst with in-depth insights in performing statistical analyses in SPSS, R, Python, and SAS. He has a very good understanding of and experience in qualitative research. He has proven skills in delivering on project goals, with the ability to identify suitable techniques in the collection and analysis of data. He co-authored articles on maternal, child, adolescent, adult health, and HIV and other infectious diseases in multiple countries of sub-Saharan Africa.

Viola Karungi, MA, PhD

Research Scholar

Viola Karungi obtained her PhD  at University of New South Wales, Australia and currently a lecturer at Makerere University, Uganda. Her research focuses on the interdisciplinarity between performance and war looking at the causes, nature and impact of war and conflicts. She has particularly researched on how performance represents and debates trauma and memory resulting from war. She holds a Master of Arts degree in International Performance Research from the University of Warwick, UK, a Master of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary, Multidisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Studies from the University of Arts in Belgrade, Serbia and a Bachelor of Arts in Drama from Makerere University She looks forward to research collaboration in humanities and social sciences.

Edward Ameyaw, MPhil, PhD

Research Scholar

Edward obtained his PhD in Public Health at the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia. He is a Social Science and Public Health researcher with much passion for maternal and newborn health, sexual and reproductive health, female genital cutting and violence against women. Edward employs quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. He has authored over 90 peer-reviewed articles featuring in top-tier journals including BMJ Global Health, BMJ Open, PLoS One and BMC Public Health. He is an Associate Editor for BMC Public Health and BMC Women’s Health and also serves as a mentor to the West African Institute of Public Health.

Ernest Darkwah, PhD

Research Scholar

Ernest Darkwah obtained his PhD in Health Promotion from the University of Bergen, in Norway. He is a Fellow of the Partnership for Africa’s Next Generation of Academics (PANGeA) programme and the 2018 winner of the Delegates’ Choice Poster Prize, Division of Occupational Psychology, British Psychological Society, UK. He is a Lecturer at the Department of Psychology University of Ghana and a mentor at the Pan African Doctoral Academy. His research interests are in Public health and Health Promotion, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Occupational and Health Psychology.

Isaac Agbemafle, PhD

Research Scholar

Isaac Agbemafle is a Lecturer in Human and Biochemical Nutrition at the School of Public Health, University of Health and Allied Sciences. He obtained his PhD in Human Nutrition and Statistics from Iowa State University, Ames, USA. He also holds a certificate in International and Community Nutrition from the University of California, Davis, USA. He obtained his MPhil. in Nutritional Sciences and BSc. Biochemistry and Nutrition from the University of Ghana, Legon. Isaac’s research work focuses on the use of nutritious underutilized foods for improving maternal and child nutrition or health. He also has expertise in statistical modelling and evaluating agriculture-nutrition linkages as well as nutrition-specific interventions.

Isaac Yeboah, PhD

Research Coordinator

Isaac Yeboah is the Research Coordinator of AfIRI. Isaac is a demographer and population scientist with variety of skills and experience ranging from community and national levels of conducting research, monitoring, supervising, analyzing and interpreting social, demographic and health research to data analysis, management and report writing. Isaac’s areas of research include mortality-fertility nexus, population health, family planning, HIV and AIDS and key population health. He has comprehensive technical knowledge of using quantitative and qualitative statistical packages such as SPSS, STATA, ATLAS.ti and NVivo.
